Well soon there will be a new addition to my household. The question I have is does anyone have suggestions or recommendations for infant daycare on Cleveland's west side? -- Give a man a fish and he eats for a day, teach a man to fish and he will feed himself for a lifetime |

| Sure if she can afford to. But then who has to pay the bills?
Many mom's are single parents that have to work to support their family.
Besides what is wrong with stay at home dad's? If the woman makes more then the man, then why not? But again only if the family can afford to. -- Omne initium est difficile |

| reply to Zaber I can't tell you about any daycare locations in Cleveland, but I can tell you what the cost for an infant would be (when I checked). Plan on upwards of $150-200 per week !!
Very few places can/will do "part-time" too. They have to have "x" employees per child and can't or won't over-staff to cover part-time clients. |

That is the problem at $150/week we are looking at $600/month. A much larger expense that we can deal with, Only the house payment is higher, not even adding all of the utilities up would we equal that. -- Give a man a fish and he eats for a day, teach a man to fish and he will feed himself for a lifetime |

| Unless "mom" has a *good* job, it's often not worth paying for daycare. Be a stay-at-home mom... Otherwise, find a family member or two who can watch the baby. Nothing against daycare workers, but nothing can be better than "family" (that's not to say all family members are good or capable, of course). |

| Unless your family members are idiots.
My kids go to an excellent child care center. They have resources and skills that I would not have at home. All centers are not created equal, however. Your best general reference in Ohio is the inspection reports at »jfs.ohio.gov/cdc/childcare.stm They give good insight into how much attention the operators pay to their facilities. -- All hail JoePa |

Since my wife and I have good jobs - we have paid just over $1K per month on daycare but our daycare had real teachers and a far better proK program than most schools. All that said - even this money is less than the 'The Goddard School' - they wanted to charge us $1500/month for both kids.
Grandma did daycare for awhile for us (MIL) but when the kids got really active and into EVERYTHING she said enough... |

She and I both have "good" jobs, they are not great but all in all they are better than many out there, especially in this economy. Problem with family is here is a two hour round trip (I think it still is an option) and the ones in my family that I would trust either work or have passed away. If we could to it financially she would just stay home. -- Give a man a fish and he eats for a day, teach a man to fish and he will feed himself for a lifetime |
