| [NHL] How about them Flyers
Well, as a die hard Flyers fan (who has moved back to the east coast just before the season started), I have to say that I'm really happy with how the team has done this season. The mid-season lull and tail off towards the end had me worried, but they stepped it up to get the series against the Caps.
I'm just wondering how much longer the Canadiens' power play can suck. Once they step that up, and given the penalty trouble the Flyers have had this series (*cough* Canadien bias *cough*), I think they'll be in real trouble if they can't keep the penalties down. Not only is the Canadiens' power play (normally) rock solid, it keeps Briere et al off the ice
Quite happy with the 2-1 series lead, though. And it's not as if game 1 was a blow out. It could easily be 3-0 right now!
I just don't see them beating the Pens though, if they get past Montreal. -- Hello...is there anybody in there? |

| reply to deblin Canadiens bias? Hardly. The Flyers have that tool Downie on the ice. That right there is good for 3 penalties a game. And how about Umberger giving Price an elbow to the head as he skated through the crease? That wasn't called, but should have been 5 and a game.
I'm not a Habs fan by any stretch, and yes the Flyers are playing good, smart hockey, if not just a little dirty. The Flyers have taken advantage of Price's weaknesses and shaken his confidence. Biron has been sensational. But to say there's a Habs bias in the refereeing, well that's simply untrue. -- I'm laying pipe, all night long, laying pipe, to satisfy that woman.

| I can't recall specific cases right now, but the refs in this series have called a LOT of questionable calls against the Flyers. I'm not saying some of them weren't deserved, but the refs are whistle happy, and certainly not for the Habs, as there have been some blatant missed calls on that side of the ice. -- Hello...is there anybody in there? |

| Really? I watched the game tonight, and it sure looked like a fairly officiated game to me...
It don't matter, anyway; the road to the Cup runs through Pittsburgh this year, and the Pens are playing very solid hockey right now.
And oh yeah, EL - GO STEELERS!!! -- "I was the bad guy once again. I laughed at their sorrows. Ha ha ha ha ha." |

Actually, was just about to post that tonight was officiated well. Game 1 was terrible and game 2 and 3 were pretty bad. Tonight was fair from what I saw.
Damnit I was Tivo delayed and accidentally clicked on my IM notifier and saw Razor155 's post! But I watched it anyway and it was still some exciting hockey! Montreal really is dangerous. Those back to back goals had me worried. -- Hello...is there anybody in there? |

| reply to deblin I didn't watch game one, but game two and three seemed fair to me. And I was watching unbiased... as I hope the Penguins can somehow skip over either team in the next round... -- Making procrastination an art form since Pluto was still a planet. |

There have been bad calls to both teams so far in this series, and in all the others series in the playoffs. Get over it.
Was the first round biased towards Washington too?
Steve Downie is going to get calls against him if there's any hint of him doing wrong because of who he is. As shaner said, he's a complete tool, a grenade waiting to go off, a player waiting to snap....however you want to call it, he's dangerous and as dirty as a pigpen. I've been watching him play hockey since he played junior for the Peterborough Petes (where the league suspended him FOR A YEAR) so it's not like he's news to me. -- All of us get lost in the darkness, dreamers learn to steer by the stars All of us do time in the gutter, dreamers turn to look at the cars -- Peart/Lee/Lifeson Join Team Helix

| Talk about a poorly officiated game; anyone else watching the Pens/Rangers game? It seems as if the Pens have been playing short-handed the entire 3rd period.

| reply to deblin Flyers win....hey Guy Carbo still think you can win the series?
Well here is where a team with depth, resilience and GREAT goaltending can get you to the Conf Finals...Price is your goalie of the future...not this season. I have struggled thru so much mediocre goaltending I am very happy for Biron or should that be Biront |
